About Me

I do what I do because the world around me inspires me to do it.

It inspires me to be more engaged with it.  The look of my wife’s eyes when she giggles, the look of a building that just fits where it is, the wide open mouth that my son gets when he’s trying to figure out if he should giggle or try to put my face in his mouth…  When I see these things, they just beg to be photographed.  They are my life experiences, each of them genuine and amazing and something I want to share with everyone I know!  I keep my camera close because I want to remember every single smile, every giggle, every little thing that Reid does, and every laugh I share with my wife.

This is why I do what I do.  I understand that it is these moments that you share that make you a family, that bring you closer together and that make you fall in love with them all over again.

Your personality is what makes a good photo.  Letting your guard down and being goofy, or sitting by a lake with your sweetheart and just enjoying watching the world go by, or watching your son excitedly discover the next clue in the treasure hunt you made for him.  These are the moments that define your relationships.  It is this that I want to help you remember.

About Us

We would work well together if…
…you have at least heard of the glory that is Skyline Chili and have some idea of what the heck Goetta is (the finest of Cincinnati cuisine)
…you like to be outside as much as I do.  It takes a passion and connection to nature to want to spend 6 months walking in the woods to get to Mt. Katahdin in Maine.  After I finished the Appalachian Trail, a good friend of mine joked “the next time you want to travel that far, you can just borrow our car!”
…you never say a bad word about the Cincinnati Bengals or a good word about the Browns, Ravens, or especially the Steelers.  I love football!
…my stupid jokes put you at ease in front of my camera and help you to forget that you are being photographed.
…you value trying new things and when I say “what if we tried this…?” you either say “Yes, please!” or “I think we could take that idea further if we did this…” (One of my photographer friends said that once she gets the shot she knows her clients will like, she asks herself what the stupidest, most creative thing she could do next with the situation, then does that thing—awesome!)
…the idea of getting all your family in the exact same outfit and staring into the camera makes you throw up in your mouth a little.
…you want your wedding day to be one where you plan a little extra time to get some amazing shots of you, your betrothed, and the most important people to you, but then spend the rest of the night having the best time of your life!
…you don’t shy away from using the words “awesome!” or “sweet!”  Because I say them all the time!
…you see the value in sitting still by a lake or some creek in the woods and watching the world go by.
…you’ve gotten up and out early just so you could watch the sunrise.
…you’re not so traditional that the idea of giving your groomsmen and groomswoman blue Converse Chuck Taylors to wear at your wedding so that they’ll match you sounds like an awesome idea.  Because I did just that, and it was awesome!
…the idea of sitting by a campfire with a few good friends, sharing a drink, and staying up until the wee hours of the morning to solve the problems of the world sounds like one of the best ideas ever.

…you strongly agree with the idea that your wedding album is your first heirloom as a family, and you want to create an awesome album out of your photos
…it’s really important to you that your kids appreciate being outside and see that the answers to some of life’s biggest questions can be found in nature.

Why You Should Hire Me

You love to be outside.  You feel like you are the best version of yourself when you spend time in the great outdoors.  I feel the same way.
